PS2 exploit help and unknown 2MB file

I'm new to the forums and I went weeding through a few of the posts on exploits, hdd, and memory card hacking and I'm a little lost at what I should be doing to get my games to play off the hdd.

First off I recently met some people near the end of school before finals and they were able to play there ps2 games off there hdd, not modded, I asked them about it and they told me that all I needed was a certain ps2 memory card file which I got from them, its about 2MB exactly 2683KB, the Ps2
Network adaptor and a hdd, the hdd is formated and it fits, as well as the ps2 games as .iso.
The issue that i'm having is I can't get any information exactly on what I need to do to get it to work becasue I don't know the name of the file on the memory card to really direct me to any kind of tutroials or information about it. I do remember when loading up the one guys ps2 you'd have to go to the Browser screen and then a CD image would pop up and than after loading that a gray background screen would pop up listing all the games on the hdd to load and I believe the screen may have said HDloader im not 100% sure.

I'm mainly trying to find out what I'm missing and what I'm doing wrong or what I wasn't told and do I need that Network Adaptor disc at all? Really want to get this working becuase my ps2 is having issues with reading discs properly so I want to avoid that completly and I know its the laser.

Again the stuff i have are:

HDD - 120GB ST3120026A-RK,though I don't think that info is nessissary
PS2 Network Adaptor eth/mod
? This 2MB file on the memory card
and PS2 games in .iso format

Any bit of help is appreciated.And sorry if this has been answered before if I knew what the memory card file was I probably wouldn't have needed to post.

Read the sticky and google before you ask any questions.

For one, what you are doing is the independence exploit (google it). And you need a PS1 game to trigger the exploit.
