You don't really change the dashboard on PS2. Basically you run an exploit that runs an executable. You can't run a "backup" from disc if you don't have a mod chip but you can use something like HDLoader with a hard drive to boot games.

Swap magic 3.8 boot form memcard
Swap magic 3.8 boot form memcard –

I was reading up on swap magic 3.8 it has the feature where it can boot from the MC so i was wondering do i still need the ps1 game to boot the exploit from the MC
swapmagic 3.8
CODER is a new member of Swap Magic's family. It maintains all the features of Swap Magic - excellent compatibility; allow launching programs from USB devices or memories; supports CD/DVD import and backup games, etc. Apart from the above functions, CODER introduces the feature of using Action Replay codes for enhanced game play. The Action Replay codes are cheat codes that help you break records easily with various functions such as infinity lives, infinity energy, max level, etc. From now on, you don't need to find any other cheating device that works with Swap Magic!

here's the thing. swap magic by itself can not boot a backup game. it requires that a pressed ps2 disc be in the drive to pass security checks. the elf file by itself can not do this.

Oh, and I did some research on your posts. This is about the third thread you have started to install the exploit.
Once I post this, I'll merge all of your exploit topics into one. And please stop creating topics on this. You've been on the site long enough to know better.
Also, upon researching your posts, I found that you have a slim PS2. I'm going to stress what other people have tried to tell you.
The independence exploit will not work on a slim ps2. There are no two ways about it. please stop asking on how to install the independence exploit on it because it will not work!
Also, from your posts, these burned games, are the ripped from original games, or are they downloaded?

Here it is in a pure and simple form. You have pirated software you are trying to get assistance on running. I had a feeling most of your software was illegal by the way you worded your other posts. It was just a matter of fishing for the information.
At this point, you will be no different from the multitude of others I've had to tell on this.
Your piraed software comes to you with no warranty, no support of any kind. This means you are not to ask for any help on running it again.
I may not be able to stop your piracy, but I can stop your requests for assistance on it.
