AFAIK, it is more kinda "disabled", but the stuff is still there.
Regardless of both the product code and the date code, the FMCB compatibility is decided by the bios version, as the routines allowing enhancement code to be loaded from a memory card were removed from bios v2.30, specifically to block such developments as the Memento firmware for Memor32 (which relies on those routines, as does FMCB).
If so,... Wow. Sony had a 5Minute-Job, to change it.
