PS2 90004 with memor32 and FMCB

Hi, I'm new here ^^.
I have bought recently a PS2 90004 and afterwards a memor32 card.
It seems memento doesn't work with this "new" version of PS2. So I googled around and found something about FMCB. But I found so much about it, I didn't understood what it's all about. Can someone explain me what this FMCB is? Is it software you install on your PS2, and is it permanently? Can I install it using the memor32? And will this solve the problem? The main thing I'd like to do is play backups, so if this works, I'm already happy ;).
Still one question: do I have to patch those backups when using FMCB?

As of right now FMCB will NOT work on the newest PS2 Version 90000+. The reason is Sony has done away with the possibility of hacking the bios thorough USB and memory card. Which is what Memento and FMCB does. What FMCB is : http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/index.htm
It is a programs that once installed to a Memory card allows the owner to play backups of there Games they own. To copy the games you need to rip them to your PC HDD with a program called Imgburn as a .ISO. Once that is done you need to patch the .ISO with http://forums.sksapps.com/attachment...gui-v0.24a.rar and then burn them to a good quality media. DVD-R, DVD+R.

Can I install it using the memor32? And will this solve the problem?
Yes you can install this with a Memor32 card/memento.

No, the program (FMCB) is installed onto a Memory Card but, it can be erased by formatting the Memory Card.

EDIT: Any PS2 9000x with bios 2.30 or up, wont work with FMCB, if the date code is < 8c

I think you have this part wrong.

As I understood it, any such PStwo with date code lower than 8c will have bios v2.20, which does allow FMCB to work
It is instead the PStwos with date code larger than 8c that have bios v2.30 which prevent FMCB from working
I'm not myself sure if those with exact date code 8c will have bios v2.20 or v2.30, but I believe they have v2.20 which will work with FMCB

Regardless of both the product code and the date code, the FMCB compatibility is decided by the bios version, as the routines allowing enhancement code to be loaded from a memory card were removed from bios v2.30, specifically to block such developments as the Memento firmware for Memor32 (which relies on those routines, as does FMCB).

Anyone who can run any homebrew on the console (through cheat engines, SwapMagic, or whatever) can thus check if it is FMCB compatible by running the latest uLE release (v4.34) and using its FileBrowser to run "MISC/Debug Info" which will display a debug screen containing a string from rom0:ROMVER, whose first four digits show the bios version.

If those four digits are "0220" or lower, then you have the old bios (same as in my v15 PStwo), which will work fine with FMCB.

But if those four digits are "0230" or higher, then you have a newer bios which will not work with FMCB at all. Your best chance to use homebrews and/or backups then lies with using SwapMagic or a hardware modchip.

Those with 8c can have one of both.
Users have luck, or open the case (loosing their warranty :( ) and take a look at the BIOS-Chip (not sure if the mobos, or cases also differ).
Lucky people which have an 8c with older BIOS. :)

AFAIK, it is more kinda "disabled", but the stuff is still there.
If so,... Wow. Sony had a 5Minute-Job, to change it.

Yes, cutting something like this out of the boot sequence is childs play.
It could be done just by adding "//" in front of a function call and then recompiling.
(It might be a bit bigger, depending on code structure, but damned simple in any case.)

Thanks god I'm a Lucky user of 90004 :D I Have v220 Bios and 8c :) And FMCB Works With No Problem :)

When i see that there are motherboards with same number but different bios i think there is probably a possibility to upgrade bios or downgrade... On ps3 it is possible why not on ps2? Just find how to do it... Is it possible to exploit the memory card check when we go in the navigator to see our saves??? Launch homebrew when the card is checked to see what there is into it??? Network exploits??? Don't have any knowledges in programation just ideas... lol

You´re right.
I only mean in the case, when they only have the console (+no possibility to rent SwapMagic) and plan to send their MC to someone.
