    I have a PS2, v4 (I'm pretty sure), two original ps2 games, an 8mb memory card, Gameshark disc, and a 2gb USB stick...

    I do not have a modchip (I have purchased two of them and waiting for them. One I am canceling because their payment processor wants me to give them informationt hey should already have???? and another coming from modgameconsole.com).

    I have no way to connect the memory card to my computer. I don't even have a USB-to-USB cable to possibly connect my PS2 directly to my PC...

    I am not adverse to soldering. I like to think I am rather profficient, and I have soldering desk ready to go for when the chip arrives...but for curiosity's sake....is there anyway I can just solder a cpuple pieces of wire to the board or bridge a couple gaps to allow for backed-up copies to work?

    I am also just greatly interested in hardware and what makes these consoles 'tick'. I have two mroe PS2's I can destroy in experimenting, but I'm curious if there are any other exploits out there that do not involve the following:

    swapmagic type stuff
    modchips
    Action Replay/Gameshark save exploits

    Anything?

    basically some serious hardware hacking here. There was some discussion about a hardware hack like I am thinking of with the XBox, but last I checked it never really materialized; everyone sticks with the tried and true mod chip or 007/Mech Assault saved game softmod.

    Just use fmcb (Free Memory Card Boot). It is an exploit that needs you to keep your memory card in your ps2 whenever you want to run it. Just go throught the tutorials at http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

    It doesn't require you to swapping a disk everytime you want to use it. It is a softmod. And you don't need to have modchip for it. And you don't need to open your PS2.

    Just follow the tutorials at sksapps.com And have fun with it.

    I took a look at the different guides, and this is where I am stucK

    Closest one I can do is the Gameshark/XPort method(http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials...ide.htm)...but I don't have a ps1 game. I've already sunk some money this payday...no more play money

    I am getting my hands on a double male end USB cable and see if I can use the XPort method in some fashion without the Action replay software.

    Of course...if there is something I am missing, just let meknow what I can do differently on these guides.

    :EDIT;
    I just thought of something...what if I used one of my PS2 discs as a trigger...or is that not possible?
