Question: Which Playstation 2 model do you have? The Playstation 2 Independence (PS2iD) exploit will only work on consoles before the SCPH-50000 series.
It seems like you are confused between two different methods of getting unsigned code to run on your console: The swap trick and the PS2iD exploit.
If you want to use the PS2iD exploit, you need a pressed Playstation game disc that will boot on your Playstation 2 console. If I remember correctly, you need a tool to create a special TITLE.DB file that will exploit a loophole in the PS1 driver, and you are supposed to get that placed in the right place on your memory card.
If you want to use the swap trick, you need an appropriate pressed Playstation 2 game disc... depending on the sort of swap trick you are using (Any game can be used if swapping at the PS2 logo, other swap tricks involving swapping before the network configuration screen appears require specific games).
By "Newbie package", are you referring to the FMCB v1.8b newbie package?
It's difficult for us to tell what you are ultimately trying to do here. A swap trick is for getting unsigned code to run, but is that your actual intent?
FYI: Unless your console is a late SCPH-90000 series unit, try to get FMCB installed. It'll allow you to boot homebrew without all that hassle, once you have it installed (Plus no wear and tear on your console's optical drive).
If you would like to, you could ask someone here to make an installation for you (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/%5B...mcb-you-58851/ ([READ FIRST POST!][Free Service!]I can install fmcb for you!)).

Yeah I figured that out i shoulda edited sorry, But i have a fat model scph 50001, *ill post the rest in a edit*
Hey, a SCPH-50000 series unit is not that bad since you can still use nearly all the other exploits and methods of running homebrew out there. If you want to run homebrew and you got a late SCPH-90000 (boot ROM v2.30 and later), now that is bad.
