NTSC PSX games on a PAL PS2 in fullscreen?
I have an unmodded PAL PS2, I'm trying to play an original NTSC PSX game like this:
Original PAL PSX game -> PSXlauncher.elf -> BreakerPro -> NTSC game.
BreakerPro gives an option of playing in PAL or NTSC. PAL gives a black bordered 50hz experience, not what I want. NTSC gives a huge black bar on the bottom and the top part of the image is cut off. I can shift the image down by holding down L1, L2, R1, R2 and pressing down on the d-pad but... it still isn't full screen, it looks just like the PAL version.
It's not a problem with the TV, I can play NTSC PS2 backups perfectly using ESR. It seems that this method to boot PSX games keeps the TV in PAL mode.
What can I do to play NTSC games fullscreen and at 60hz?
Will making a NTSC->PAL patched backup work?
What exactly do these patches do? Would the patched game run in PAL mode, but with the picture stretched vertically? Wouldn't the game run at 50hz instead of 60hz?
