Is it not possible to have the HDLoader elf as boot.elf? –
I've been fartin' around with this today, and can't seem to get it to work. I've taken my patched HDLoader elf, and renamed it BOOT.ELF. I then put it in the BADATA-SYSTEM folder along with the title.db file (both of these files work fine). But when booting the PS2 up with the PS1 game, it seems to recognize the exploit (the screen flickers for a sec), but then it just hangs on a black screen.
I was just wondering if someone can confirm that a HDLoader elf can't be used as the BOOT.ELF file? I assume you need to use some sort of launcher app as the BOOT.ELF? I just thought it would be nice to have it boot directly to HDLoader - as this would be much quicker than having to go through a launcher.
You could edit the keyloader elf to boot directly to your HDLoader, but that might require recompiling. I say bear with the extra keypress if you don't have the knowledge to do that.
Thanks for the reply patch6. I know I could always set up KeyLauncher to automatically boot it, but I just thought it would be nicer to have it boot directly.
Since you'll need to boot the cdvd driver, this is not possible.
Right on... thanks hellohole. That's the answer I was looking for.
put LAUNCHELF as your BOOT.ELF
then also have hdloader installed. Setup launchelf to auto launch HDLOADER after "0" seconds. The screen will flicker and then it will seem to load right into hdloader.
If you ever want to change it just hold down "SELECT" while the PS2 is booting to break the auto load.
I had considered doing it that way stinky, and after thinking about it a bit more, that might actually work for what I'm thinking. Thanks.
