What does Special Boot do that Normal Boot doesn't on Swap Magic 3.6?
well lets just say this: If homebrew doesn't work on Normal Boot then try it on Special Boot.
This worked with all of my homebrew for me.
Special Mode lets you read it in a different (ie not automatic) region.
For example. Let's say i import Timesplitters Future Perfect PAL. Even though there's a resolution selector (where i can pick 60 hz and play it on any NTSC machine) it's still going to BOOT in a pal format, completely unreadable on american TVs. Fortunately, i can use Special boot to force it into an NTSC resolution long enough to switch to it through the game. (Doing so makes the video and audio jerky, fyi)
I've actually played through Sonic & Knuckles (Sonic Mega Collection) with the video forced to NTSC through my swap magic. Granted it wasn't the greatest experience, but it was playable. Does this answer your question(s) ?
Ah I see. Thanks for the reply.
Granted, there may be other uses. But i know for a fact this is one of them for "special boot".
