I've been fiddling around with my PS2 lately, using MC exploits to play SNES-Station n' such.
However, I've come across a problem that unfortunately, no-one seems to know how to fix.
I want to install Linux on my PS2 without the use of a mod chip

I have the PS2 Linux DVD (both one and two) iso's and I've burned them to DVD. Obviously the PS2 cannot read the disks normally.

I currently have a harddrive installed on the system, and I've used HD Loader to format it.

I also own Action Replay Max, as well as a "cogswap" card that I made out of a fairly cheap card (credit card type material).

    So..
Without installing a Mod chip into the system, (which I want to avoid doing) is there a way to install Linux onto my system?

    Note:
I've tried loading the Action Replay, getting it to "launch" the game without codes, and then used the Cogswap to eject the disc and put the DVD into the system. Doesn't work.

I appreciate any help that anyone can give. Thank-you

When you boot cogswap, what are you booting it from, ulaunch?
The DVD you burned, did you burn it at the slowest possible speed?
Make sure you use the right kind of disc to swap the dvd in with, for instance, when I booted the linux bootloader from a burned CD-R through cogswap, I booted cogswap from ulaunch, which means that when cogswap loaded it showed a black psx disc was in the drive.
I ejected the ps1 disc and put a ps2 cd-rom (blueback) disc in. After cogswap reflected that there was a blue ps2 cdrom in the drive, I then took my cd drive's cover off and switched the ps2 disc with my burned linux cdr. THEN booted it. This was the only way it would work

It is impossible to install linux on a ps2 without a modchip if you are using copies, you can boot disc 1 to get to the main install/boot menu BUT when you press the install button it will ask for disc 2 to authenticate it is original/load info and then once that is done you swap back in disc one again. You will be bricked after the disc 2 swap without a modchip to disable the ps2 authentication.

How then is it that I have a perfectly fine install of linux on my un-chipped ps2? hehe, I beg to differ, it IS possible, as I have done it using only cogswap, a crossover cable, and burned CD-Rs.
