Sorry, but you're not allowed to request help on getting pirated software to run here.
I watched a few videos online were all they did was turn on their ps2 go to the browser screen, inserted an original ps1 game then when the disc icon showed up on the browser they did the cog pin swap trick to put in the burnt copy of a game and then slid the tray back in the ps2 put the cog pin back its place and started playing the game. I did all of that, to the tee and yet my game gets stuck on the ps1 logo screen, any ideas why?
It's probably because you did it at the wrong time.
From my own understanding of the swap trick used here, it needs to be done precisely at the right time.
now i would be interested in softmodding my ps2 but the tutorial on here by dv8 doesnt specify whether i need a ps1/ps2 memory card, and it also requires a modded ps2 in order to get the boot files unto the memory in the first place... so doesnt that defeat the purpose of softmodding

.
If you're talking about installing FMCB, then you need a Playstation 2 Memory Card.
However, there currently isn't a way to run Playstation games without a modchip (Or some swap trick)...
However there's a new Playstation emulator that's still in the works.
I did see that he gave other ways of loading the boot files via the cheat device CDs but i dont own any and i dont have a hd either, so basically what can i do to run burnt ps1 games on my nonmodded ps2 ? (preferably without having to purchase anything other than like black CD-rs lol)
There isn't a way to, until that Playstation emulator that's still under development is released.
