No solder mod for dev/emu

Hey all I would like some input here. I was thinking about getting a no solder mod for my v4 ps2 to load cd-r's that have emulaters/roms/homebrew software. I'm not concerned about loading game backups as I don't burn any of my games, I only want this mod for loading software. I really don't want to get a fliptop becuase I don't like how they look, but if that's a better option I suppose I could swing for one. Also, I'm tired of jamming a slide card (homemade) in my cd tray, and I'd really like to put the cover back on the tray too

. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

i've been using a no solder on my v4 with Swap Magic for a couple years now and can load pretty much everything

If I may ask, which no solder mod do you have? I was looking at this one http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/files/images/d_7.gif because it's only $10 and I'd only need it for loading non-game cd's.

like pyro i got swap magic on my v4 ps2 and use it with a fliptop..i like the fliptop alot. I keep the white magnet seperate and put it on when needed. between swapmagic and cogswap i can get all my games to boot. 3 out of i'd say 20 didn't work.

yeah, that looks like the one i got digitalFX... i use the SM disc along with cdloader when needed and haven't really found anything i can't boot yet

Is their any no solder chip that that you don't have to use swapmagic with?

Okay, I'm a bit confused. If you need swap magic to work the no solder modchips, then what exactly is the point of the mod-chip since you can boot the same things just with the swap-magic?

because there are some things we can't do without a chip such as booting the $ony HDD Utility to format a third party hdd and have the hdd browser, if you have a DMS3 modchip you could do it.... plus modchips let you autoboot with no swapping whatsoever

Personally I just want a no-solder mod so I don't have to jam a knife or slide card in the front of my ps2. It looks kinda ghetto with the front of the cd tray off all the time.
