I have a Flip Top Cover installed and when I load the Swap Magic Disc, it'll only sometimes reach the "Load Program" screen. And even when I get there, the burnt games doesn't always work. I have 2 backup games here and both have worked only once each. So is there anything I can do to improve this inconsistency?? Thanks..

Is this the new slim one? If so, is the flip top replacement lid misshapen (even slightly)? I had to bend the front-right corner down a little to make sure that the switch there was being pressed.

    U can try this:

Try making a backup with Dvddecrypter (freeware from www.dvddecrypter.com) it is one of the best one to do backups with. If u use another program, make sure u use raw/dao options if possible.

Try a different media. I have a v7 too (pal) it used to read anything. Then one day it stopped reading Platinum dvd+r (donno why... crappy laser?) but it still reads Verbatim dvd+-r, Traxdata +r and several noname +-r.
I tried to adjust the laser (and cleaned it outside and inside) but it didnt do a thing. Old media tends to work best on my v7... it might be the dye (Traxdata 2x +r has a really dark dye).

Havnt had any error with cd-r but it might be the same thing.

SW 32 give u an "error color" if a bootin' fails (border turns into red, blue...). Does SW33 give u a error color?

no it just says "not valid PS2 game." No different color border or whatever.
the thing is that the games that I'm trying to play are CD, not DVD. I have backups of ICO and Street Fighter EX3 that I'm trying to play. I used Alcohol 120 to burn them.

    Ok, No colors.

I think Alchohol has a ps2 option when reading/writing so u can try that - or just select raw/dao (if possible).

Make sure u dont use cd-rw.... they dont work on most ps2.

I dont like that "not a valid ps2 disc" message ... sound like your ps2 dosnt like the cd-r media or format.

Heres a few thing u can try tho:

The Ps2 has problems reading very big or small backup cd-rs. If your backup is larger than 632mb it wont boot unless u do a high toc swap (with a real Breaker Pro cd or HDAvance-cd). If your sm33-cd is larger than 632mb u might not have that problem tho'. (Please tell if sm33-cd is bigger than 632mb please)

If your backup is small the laser might have trouble finding the data and give u the "not valid" message (or just freeze/reboot). This is a common problem with homebrew ps2 cd-r like emulators, ps2realityplayer and cd-loader/cogswaploader.

Its a common problem that sm-cd is hard to boot (sometimes it wont boot at all), so u can try this (works on sm32 - please let me know if it fails with sm33):

    1. boot sm-DVD
    2. press eject (tray opens)
    3. insert sm-CD
    4. press eject (tray closes)
    5. press x (and sm-cd boots)

    Have u tried bootin' cd-loader (from www.swapmagicfix.com)?
And if the cd-loader-cd-r boots try this:

    1. boot sm-cd (wait untill it spins down)
    2. open fliptop
    3. insert cd-loader.
    4. close fliptop
    5. press x (Please select special boot if u can : press square button)
    6. wait until it spins down
    7. open fliptop
    8. insert backup cd-r
    9. close fliptop
    10. press x (and backup boots?)

If your backup(s) are larger than 600mb u can try this if u have a real Breaker Pro-cd or HDAvance-cd (High toc swap):

    1. boot sm-cd (wait untill it spins down)
    2. open fliptop
    3. insert cd-loader.
    4. close fliptop
    5. press x (Please select special boot if u can : press square button)
    6. wait until it spins down
    7. press eject (tray opens)
    8. insert Breaker Pro-cd or HDAvance-cd
    9. press eject (tray closes)
    10. wait untill it say psx cd/ps2 cd in lower left corner of screen
    11. open fliptop
    12. insert backup cd-r
    13. close fliptop
    14. press x (and backup boots?)

oktoberfest try this: d/l dvdloader then boot up sm-dvd then swap with dvd loader, press eject insert a ps2 cd original or a psx original, press eject to close then wait for spin down and swap with backup ps2 cd game.

either that or you can make a nice handy exploit and boot directly to the loader using a psx cd. since the toc is already in the ps2 memory, you will only need to swap with the backup cd and run.
