Hi I am new here and new to modded PS2. I happened to stumble across one on craigslist. It came with HD loder which I was able to figure out how to work and a 40GB Sony HD. I have now installed a 250GB Maxtor plus II. But HD loder only sees 137GB of it. I am wondering if there is a way for it to see the entire drive?

Also I wanted to image the 40GB Sony drive that came with it (to get the other games off). I was trying to use Paragon Hard Drive Manager to make an ISO of the drive but it was unable to. Is there another program that I can run from my computer that will be able to do this?

I do know a lot about computer but this PS2 stuff confuses me a bit. Please explain it simply so I might understand. I have searched the forum and it all sounds like giberish to me and I don't know where to start.

Yup it a fat model with a network adapter. I have had other fat model ps2 in the past but this one I noticed that there is a light that comes on inside the case sometimes. you can see it through the grid on the front. does this mean the previous owner added something inside?

when i connect the sony hd to my computer paragon (a hard drive program) can see the drive but it can't search it or image it.

Thanks guys, I will check out your suggestions and see if I can get it.

The light is normal. As far as I know, all fat PS2s that support HDDs (With the exception of the SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000 series) have that HDD activity-indicator light inside it.

I'm not surprised that you cannot make an image of the drive - Sony does not store partitions on the drive like normal PCs would.

Instead, Sony had opted to use the Aligned Partition Allocation scheme instead. Programs designed to expect the MBR of the HDD to contain information on the partitions in the HDD will not work.

Instead of cloning the drive, why not just extract the games and reinstall them onto your new HDD? I think that HDL Dump allows you to do that (Need verification).
