Hey I was wondering if it is possible to use a memory card exploit such as McBoot to boot games off a usb hard drive?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by hacked osd? I tried searching here but no luck.

I did some more searching and found a program called usbadvance and someone on this forum mentioned you might be able to run it off of a Memorcy card(cd size shows 29mb on my computer)? But the usbadvance seems to big to fit on a memory card.

If someone can shed some light I would be thankful. And M tha Man can you describe in more detail what you meant? Thanks in advance.

he means use FMCB to boot USB Advance so you can play games from your usb hdd. Extract the elf file from the image. that's what you'd boot.

Also format your drive to FAT32 and you should be able to use the new utility in the USB Hard drive section to install games on to it.

Hey just another quick question. Is there a way to determine how much space I actually need to clear up on my ps2 memory card? I just put the USBADVN.ELF file in the install folder which is 471kb. The total size of everything on the FMCB cd seems to be 938kb, is that what is put on my ps2 memory card?

place the usb advance elf on a USB storage device formatted to fat32 as I've mentioned. its a waste of space on the memory card.

Hey again. I tried installing fmcb but when I do a multi version install it fails. I need to do a multi version install because I am using a modded slim ps2 to put the files on my memory card to be used on the original fat ps2( SCPH-30001).

If I do a normal install it installs fine but that's not what I need i think..

Edit: I just realized that I guess I started this thread in the wrong section? Sorry about that. I started reading through old threads for answers but got none yet. Just to add more info though, my friend's ps2 is the same region as mine and as the matrix infinity chip. I tried the multi version uninstall but it failed. So I went into the MC from the browser screen and deleted the 3 files, i forget the names, I think, fmcb, boot, and settings?

Final EDIT: I got everything to work. I just redid everything and it worked flawlessly now.

Thanks Bootleninja for your help and your great tutorial. And thanks to everyone who worked on all these homebrew apps
