MC Exploit Disc Won't Boot?
MC Exploit Disc Won't Boot? –
I searched PS2-scene, ownz, google.. I tried every suggestion these forums and other forums have said, tried basically everything, wasted ten some discs on this piece of shit, and I can - not - get the stupid MC Exploit disc I burned to boot.
- SM3 CD > MC Exploit
- SM3 CD > CDLoader > MC Exploit
- SM3 CD > Bigger TOC > MC Exploit
any so many other combinations my infuriated mind can't think of now.
It's not the media, because CDLoader (which is on the same media) loads just fine. When I try to put the MC Exploit disc in after SM3, I get the red and blue bad burn screen. When I try after CDLoader, I get "invalid disc".
HOW. What the hell do I have to do to get it to read? I followed the guide(s - tried multiple guides, they all said the same thing, really) to the letter, and still nothing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the help.
v4 ps2 / sm3 / imation brand cd-r (which work fine for CDLoader, etc.)
dude ! i had the same problem. I wasted more disc then you did. I finally got mine to work. The problem I had was my ps2 was modified. I realize this cause I bought a new ps2 for a tryout (which i will return) And guess what everthing worked.
draconic. first of all chill out :P
second, try booting it this way SM3> cogswap> exploit install cd-r
if that doesnt work try this
SM3> cdloader> hdloader.. once in hdloader, install the exploit installation cd-r to your hdd.
once you've installed it, keep the exploit install cd-r in the drive and run the exploit install from hdloader. it should boot up and begin reading from the cd-r & install to your MC.
let me know how it goes
by the way, i've never liked SM3.. my trusty old SM2 disc boots the exploit install disc just fine :P
For what its worth, I yhave great difficulty getting my mc exploit disk to boot on a pal messiah v5. I thought I had figured out the knack, but last night it must have taken me 15 mins just to get it to boot and install my latest modded hdloader to the MC.
@jeex, DOes it really install from HD, i.e. I can use the PC to put the exploit on HD and justlaunch it from HDLoader - That would of saved me hours of feckign about - cheers mate I'll test it next time I need to update my hdloader.
@corf it works for me. remember though, you have to keep the exploit installation cd-r in the ps2 drive when you're installing it to an MC. it will only boot the installer from the hdd, it still needs to read the files from the cd-r.
Cheers mate the exploit via HDLoader works a treat - Obviously the disk is needed cos it calls the cdrom.
check that your exploit has a junk.dat file, I had to add that to mine to get it to boot
OK... I have a v7+ ... not sure what model... but it's over v7.... anyways... can I just remove the cover of the PS2 and swap discs with the cover off.... (Drive cover off too) and load the exploit that way... once the exploit is saved to MC I won't need to swap it out anymore right?
Or does the v7+ machines have a hardware setup that woun't allow the exploit to run?
another idea..... so the DVD drive an be accessed while using HDLoader? so how hard would it bee to allow reality to be installed on the HD and play discs... I've seen ppl wanting to put the movies on the HD but I'd rather keep the space for games...
and I'm looking for a PSX emulator that runs on the PS2.... I'd like to see a program that can read PSX games from the HD... using a image mount system like Daemon tools uses... so my games less 50MB won't take up 128MB partitions... just all in one partition and saved as images that can be mounted from a menu...
