alright yall. i know im a little behind in the ps2 world with ps3 just around the corner. well about 2 months ago i was in a car accident and broke both legs. so my ps2 was brought back to life. now i have been reading and searching alot. im not knew to the burning world. when DC was big for the 2 years it was out. i was a burning fool. i just need a point in the right direction on what does what. thanks!

i have an HDD on the way, just ordered off newegg. so as for now i have swapmagic, zoneloader, an MC, and a usb drive to work with.
i have burned the SM on a dvd with powerISO. load it in my ps2. and i just get a screen that says please insert a playstation2 disc. i burned zoneloader as well and i get the same msg. help me out yall. thanks in advance.
also i can't figure out wat version ps2 i have.. heres my info

From what I understand - you want to be able to play legal backups and homebrew software, and on the whole you seem to have the right tools to do this except you mention that you ripped your SM cd/dvd. Please be aware that these will not work, you need the originals unless you already have some kind of exploit installed.
Presumably you do not want to install a mod-chip, and you are after a no-mod solution. Your options are as follows;
1. Get some genuine swap mod tools such as original swap magic discs and slide tool (you can do this with a knife but its really not recommended)
2. Get a memory card with the independence exploit already installed, along with a suitable psx trigger disc. (you can use a friends modded console to do this)
3. Get AR replay max or similar with an x-link cable - this will allow you to create your own exploit enabled memory card.
Essentially - the most useful software to install on your exploited memory card is uLaunchELF. If you can boot this, you can pretty much load any other homebrew software you need to play dvds, link to your pc, play legal backup games etc etc
