Just wonderin...
I am used to the save game exploit with XBOX. I did it for a lot of people but some people asked me about their ps2. I told them I'd look into it. I came here, I started looking around and reading. But I still dont get it. I read through the noobs one thats pinned. Will the ps2 automatically read the burned disc? Will this exploit allow me to play emu's and play burned DVD's? Thanks for the info.

burned movies already can be played. Burned games not without using the swap method.
If one goes about installing the Independence Exploit, They can boot files from there MC and HDD by using a PS1 game in the PS2 at power up. From there the possibilities are well... finite but plentiful.
One can install a very large HDD 40-300GB and get a lot of PS2 games on there with HD Loader (available online just don't ask for it here).
Several emulators can be installed to the HDD with roms (Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Turbo Graphix 16, NES, Color Gameboy, Genesis, Sega Master System...).
There are FTP programs and YaBasic is now available to the DieHard WannaBe Programmer. There are several PC side toys for use with the PS2. CDDAFS - audio data format that allows on to run apps off of a non-Sony disc (if the program you are using supports it).
and there are dozens of ways (well not dozens) to install the exploit without the worring of a LOCKED HDD.
1. Make a CD to swap into the drive (not safe for drive)
2. HD Loader owners can install a game image to the PS2 HDD from there PC and load the tools to install from the HD Loader disc.
3. Action Replay owners can use a USB Thumb drive to upload the esxploit to the MC (some digital cameras and mp3 players work for this too).
4. Action Replay owners can also upload from ther PC the exploit using the Download Game Save features (requires a Home Network)
I'm sure ther are other ways I'm not thinking of at the moment.
Even the Official Sony HDD can be used with these toys/tools. But of course who wants to spend nearly $100 dollars for a HDD that Sony doesn't even support anymore when you can get a 200GB drive for the same price.

Yes and no.
There are 3 ways of running backups if u dont have a modchip (there are other ways but they are expensive and require hds).
1. The mc exploit (ps1 disc triggers software in mc)
2. Swapmagic discs
3. Run Cogswaploader from your Action Replay Max/EVO usb-stick
All 3 ways require u to swap using a slidekey/fliptop (or other swaptool). If u do swap ull be able to play pretty much any backup cd/dvd+-r tho'
All 3 ways will allow u to play emulators too. U might even be able to play emulators from your mc without swappin', but to get the emulator on to the mc.... u probably need to swap anyways :)
