installing fmcb with cogswap?
installing fmcb with cogswap? –

hi everyone, i am new to the forum and have recently been trying to install free mcboot on my SCPH-75002 ps2 slim using the 007 agent under fire exploit (the replace driving.elf with ulaunchelf one) except ulaunch cannot launch, it just goes to a black screen, I have tried it with various other versions of ulaunch and made 3 different dvd's although thats not part of the question.
I was wondering if i could use the cogswap elf in the 007 iso, then load up the fmcb installer disc using cogswap, would this work?
help would be greatly appriciated, thanks!

It would probably work with Cogswap.elf, but are you sure you tried using the 'uncompressed BOOT.ELF'
Because it works.

thanks for replying,
yes i definately used the uncompressed boot.elf and change it to DRIVING.ELF but the screen just goes black
I think it may have something to do with the SCPH number of my ps2, because i tried the same iso file (that i burned to a dvd) in pcsx2 and ulaunch launched fine.
I spent all of last weekend looking for a way to fix this and it seems as if hardly anyone else has encountered this problem.
the disc swapping method works fine ( I blocked all three sensors ), but it just goes to a black screen when I try to load the uncompressed boot.

Tests made in an emulator are never valid for cases like this, since PCSX2 does not have a real mechacon. That is a circuit almost completely independent of the main console processing system (mechacon runs unalterable code only) and it is this that performs the disc validity checking.
I'm surprised to hear of PCSX2 running any modern uLE version though, since older PCSX2 versions always crashed in such attempts due to incomplete EE emulation. They must really have fixed some things in recent versions. Too bad they didn't also fix a new GS module capable of running on the CPU of my main PC (non-Intel, no SSE2), so I am unable to test it myself.

No I don't think it does work fine. It is not just a matter of blocking the sensors, but also of precise timing (from what I've heard, as I never use swap methods myself).
but it just goes to a black screen when I try to load the uncompressed boot.
This could be due to several different reasons. As this elf-launcher in the game was only designed to handle a specific elf file, designed by the same company, it might be handicapped in its abilities to deal with generic elf files. Perhaps you should try other versions of uLE, and specifically check which versions others have successfully used with the same version of the game that you have. That could make a big difference.

The game '007 Agent Under Fire' is the game that pioneered this swap trick and the instructions are the basis of the tutorial. I even provided ONLY an un-compresed version of uLaunchELF 4.21 as thats the very version used successfully by most reports.
Its important to re-name uLaunchelf to DRIVING.ELF and use the correct byte size for this to work, so double check your spelling and settings!
