Information Needed

Hello, im new to the forum and "hacking" scene.

Was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction,

I have a ps2 slim and i wanted to softmod (dont wanna take it apart i will mess it up) so i can play back up ps1-ps2 games save my laser

I have searched the net and all i seem to be finding is the paper tissue blocking sensors from 2005

was wondering whats the easiest way to mod my ps2, would like to be able to spend as little as possible (£15-£25) i have a usb hdd (60gb) would like to play the games from that and discs

I have read and seen some vids showing people using "PS2 ACTION REPLAY MAX cheats + media discs"

I have seen one of these on ebay and was wondering would i be able to do it with this.

I have downloaded a few files already like .elf /magic swap/ usb extreme....just need a guide for the thick

You first MUST have a way to run homebrew and most, if not all methods are already listed there...

Thank you for the quick reply, can i just ask you what your personal way would be

I will buy any of these just to start me off

As soon as its modded i think i will be able to find away to use the HDD

as i have read i need to make a mem card from someones chipped/modded console or buy a cheat save to copy files to the ps2 mem card from the pc

just wanna know whats the best cheat system to buy for this

Well,... My personal way would be to buy one of the katana-utils, urbigbro offers and let him install FMCB on it.

If you are from the same country/mg-region, this might be one choice.

You should,... Preventing harm from your laser in any way, is a good choice.

Nope, the PC-Way isn´t possible...
You also do not have to pay for any "save-file".
First of... FMCB is FREE!
If you can´t find a way just look at the volunteers-thread.

I'd love to help, but looking from the £ in his post, I'm guessing he's not in the U.S.
I only have NTSC-U consoles, and don't want to ship internationally. Sorry

I local install volunteer may be your best bet.

Yes i just seen the thread and it seems the guy that does the UK memory cards has been inactive for a few weeks lol trust me i have been thinking about doing this for weeks and when i come online to check up about it, the guys inactive

So if i buy the AR max V2 and a pen drive will i be able to copy the files from the pc to ps2 memory card

Get paid thursady so will be good to get it done for monday-tuesday next week....dont know if my laser will last that long lol having trouble reading my games takes 3-4 times to load up then it crashes

Does anyone know a site (UK) where i can buy one of these memory cards (Dont know if this is against the rules if so im sorry)

I don't have much to add to the advice others have given, except to point out that even with ESR added the FMCB softmod will not provide any way to use PS1 backups.

The ESR method only works for PS2 backups, for two separate reasons. One is that the console switch to PS1 mode kills all normal PS2 software that was active at the time, including ESR. Another reason is that PS1 games are always CD-based, and the ESR method only works for DVD discs. (But PS2 games on CD can often be converted for use on DVD.)

Ok thank you all for the information,i have found someone on ebay selling a memory card FreeMcBoot 1.8 for £16 i think i will buy this on thursday.

So to mod my ps2 for ps2 back ups all i need is this memory card right lol ?
