Independence exploit

Hi

I've heard rumors that you can place a independence exploit as "Img" on the ps2 hdd via Winhiip and then push the hardrive back to ps2 and push in HDL/HDA disc execute the independence file from hdd with a MC connected to ps2 and get HDL 0.7c on the memory card. Is this true or did I misunderstood someone?

So to make the MC hack I don't need codebreaker or any other swap method, I just need a PC, Winhiip, HDL/HDA, a Independence exploit on HDD. Maybe I also need a PS1 disc? I tested a old psone disc from 96 but it didn't work in my ps2..
