Independance Exploit with Gameshark 2 v5.3?

I've read that the CD based installer only works with v3/4 of the Gameshark 2, as v5 doesn't give you the "Start With No Codes" disc swap option, and simply ejects the tray.

However, it does allow reading from a USB drive, and allows you to copy files from the drive to the PS2 memory cards.

So I was wondering if it's possible to copy the boot and launcher files from the USB stick to the memory card, and still have the exploit work, sort of like the AR MAX method of "uncrushing" the .max file to the memory card.
