how to play backups on my fat ps2 with memory card exploit?

I'm not sure what you did wrong with installing that exploit, but the old exploit method of booting (the one that requires a PS1 trigger disc) is no longer the best homebrew boot method for unmodded consoles. It has been replaced by a new method known as "Free McBoot", or FMCB for short.

This FMCB method also needs some stuff installed to the memory card, by methods similar to those you mentioned, but once the MC has been prepared nothing else is needed. The PS2/PStwo will always boot the installed homebrew when that MC is inserted, although it also allows you to go to the Sony browser by holding a gamepad button during boot. A slightly modified Sony browser I should say, as a command has been added to it that lets you start the homebrew again, without a new reset or power-on.
