How do I install FMCB?
How do I install FMCB? –

I have the PS2 Slim which I purchased in 2004. I have Swap Magic 2.0 which works on my PS2. Is there any way I can install it if I only have Swap Magic 2.0 not 3.6? I also recently burned the game NBA 2k10 and it gets stuck at the loading screen after I choose my teams I want to play with, using Swap Magic 2.0 any help with that?

Reason: Corrected a typo for FMCB in the title

If you can use SM2.0 to boot burned backups, then you can also use it to boot burned homebrew discs, and that is one of the stepping stones towards an FMCB installation.
You can download a boot disc ISO for uLaunchELF (aka: uLE) and after burning and booting that disc you can use the uLE FileBrowser to launch the FMCB installer from a USB drive where you have also prepared the rest of the FMCB installation package. And that is really all you need.

I have no definite knowledge on that, but my initial guess would be that something is wrong either with the original rip, or with the burning of it to the backup disc, or with the quality of that backup medium. Those are all the standard reasons for a backup to 'hang' instead of running correctly.

Now do I have to burn it into a DVD or a CD?
And for the NBA game everything else works fine like if I play 1on1 matches it works. But if I play the regular season it freezes at load.

If you download a CD iso you have to burn it to a CD disc, and if you download a DVD iso you have to burn it to a DVD disc. The uLE release post contains both kinds.
But I never test them with disc swapping myself, so compatibility with such use is not guaranteed, and I think I heard some people complaining about the CD iso not being good for this particular usage. So I would recommend that you try one of the DVD isos instead.

I have no clue as to why, except what I always suspect in these cases, which is a backup made on a low quality disc, or using incorrect methods either for ripping or burning the disc.

So if you took that one you'd still have to build your own ISO.
But that "uLaunchELF v4.37 DVD" is an ISO release, so that one should be directly useful.
And when it comes to the uLE version to include in MC installs, you should instead use the BOOT.ELF file from the most recent uLE release, which currently is v4.42, which you can find in the uLaunchELF subforum of the forum for "Homebrew/Dev & Emu" stuff. The first post of the main release thread of uLaunchELF contains several of the latest uLE releases.

I don't really understand so should I just download uLaunchELF v4.37 DVD and use that?

Oh so I take the boot.elf from the latest release and put it in the SWAPMAGIC folder and name it SWAPMAGIC.ELF that right? But I still burn the v4.37 DVD into the DVD.

Yes, exactly. I wasn't sure if SM2.0 supported the SWAPMAGIC.ELF method even for MC, but if it does then that is one of the best methods for booting homebrews. I use the same method myself on my v18 console, though I use SM3.8coder to do it.
But since you bought your console in 2004, it is also guaranteed FMCB compatible, so you really should install FMCB on your MC and use that to boot uLE and other homebrews. Because with FMCB you can boot without using the laser at all, and can also continue using your console once your laser has died (they don't live forever...)
In the end it is the elf you install to the MC that will get used for your future boot sessions, so it is that one you really want to be the newest with the best improvements.
eg: uLE v4.42 has the ability to rename objects on MC, which neither v4.41 nor v4.37 has.

Does this have better compatibility then Swap Magic 2.0 for games? I am going to try to burn this into a DVD tomorrow.
