Hi people, i am a newbie here. Pls i have a friend, he doesnt use any of the ar max, cog swap, etc. He just opens the ps2 slim and does some soldering, within 5 mins, then he puts a mem card with fmcb already installed, he does the neccesary configuration and baaam, with a usb flash, he begins to play games in the usb. What i dont know, is how doe she introduce the fmcb into the mem card and what is tghe adjustment he does when he open up. I pay him to do mine and need to do same for some neighbours so, he arnt willing to show me what he is doing. Pls somebody explain in details or reffer me to a well explainatory cvideo. Thanks a lot.

First and FOREMOST DO NOT PAY FOR IT!!!!

FMCB is FREE, and you should not have to pay for it.

Not sure what your talking about sodering and in about 5 mins, he puts in a memory cards and plays backups.

Once FMCB is installed on a MC, and along with a few other apps, ESR, SMS, OPL. you can play games and movies and music from several devices " CD,DVD,USB HDD"

Here is a link to my Youtube page, showing how easy it is to install FMCB.

People on here will also do the FreeMcBoot Installs for free as well, u just send in a memory card. I have done SEVERAL FreeMcBoot installs for local people in my area for free….it can be convenient b/c then they usually stay in touch and we swap games back and forth

I cant say for sure but the soldering is probably for the sensors instead of blocking them.

That may be the case, but neither is needed for a normal FMCB setup.
Possibly he does that work just to mystify onlookers, to scare them off from trying it themselves (thus not paying him to do it).

Using ESR backup games can be run from burned DVD-R discs without any hardware changes of any kind. With this method even sensor blocking is unnecessary.

And using OPL backup games can be run from USB or via LAN (from storage on a PC or NAS), again without needing any hardware changes of any kind.

Normally FMCB users do not open the console at all, or modify it in any other way, as that is never necessary. Having FMCB properly installed on an MC together with the usual software applications is all you need (such as uLE, SMS, ESR, OPL).

    Best regards: dlanor

The only ussefull soldering you can do is the color fix to play other zones at full color and without format distortion.

Pin 85 from CXM 4xxx to GND to see import games in PAL(PAL consoles).
Pin 85 to 3,3v to see import games in NT(NT consoles).

But you can do that better with just a component cable, not solderings.
