You can try creating or finding an ISO of uLaunchELF and install the ISO like a game, then play it same as you would a game from the USB HDD.
Place the FMCB installer and INSTALL folder on the USB HDD root, just copy/paste thru Windows.
Once uLaunchELF is running, you can boot the FMCB install from the same HDD or swap it out for a USB stick if it dont work from the HDD.

hdextreme has usbextreme in it
can i just put free mcboot on usb drive and do it that way?
You could try, but im guessing Free McBoot might not read the USB HDD from within an ISO and USB Extreme wouldnt be able to boot the FMCB installer from the USB HDDs root.
You can give it a go, but make sure to place the INSTALL folder onto the USB root of the drive and not in the ISO.

it is not possible to install any exploit or run any .elf files from USB extreme, i have an un-modded original fat PS2 and as slim, with an original USBextreme cd, and i have tried installing FMCB, uLaunchELF, FTP servers, actior replay max, codebreaker and numerous other ways, none of them will boot from USBextreme, the closest i got was a copy of Action Replay Max, non modded(copy of the original cd) and it would boot the the main menu, than if i clicked on memory manager or media player it would just go to a black screen and freezwour best bet is finding a original copy of AR max or a friend with a modded PS2 and install the exploit that way, or you will just waste your time and get frustrated. lol
I actually downloaded about 1.5 gig of different exploit loaders, boot cd's ect. and not one of them worked.
If anyone does find a way to install with USBextreme please let everyone know.

AFAIK USBextreme only works with converted Files, generated by USBextreme-Windowsclient.
I converted some ISOs to USBextreme-Format already.
PC-Client of USBextreme didn't recognize my USB-Stick, so I selected Harddrive to generate into, then copied the files generated in the Root of selected Harddrive (ule.cfg and files beginning with ul.) to usb-stick afterwards.
1.)I would try to download an ISO of Ulaunch for example, mount it via Nero, Daemontools, ..
2.)Start USBextreme-Windows-Client (available at HDadvance-Site)
Select CD/DVD-Drive where your ISO is mounted, select Harddrive where the files will be generated (if you can chose USB-Stick, take this)
Give a Name, which describes it.
3.)Start PS2 with USB-Stick inserted and USBextreme-Disk, then hopefully it appears in the list and you can start it.
it works for games, why not for other disks.

Well i think it might work if you were to use PS2Load (CDLoader) and put uLaunchELF in the ISO. There is a tutorial on making an ISO with HDLoader/PS2Load so an Original HDLoader disc would boot it and also used to make Multi-Loading DVDs. Heres the PS2Load tutorial, just put uLaucnhELF instead of HDLoader and use the USB software instead of Winhiip.
By Booting PS2Load, then it booting uLaunchELF via USB Extreme, it might work to then boot FREE_MCBOOT.ELF from a USB stick and install it.
