help booting EA sports games

I have no problem backing up the original but the problem is booting. I currently have a v5 ps2 and gameshark v2. I also have a no solder mod chip installed (basically it lets me use the updating codes list swap method). Any game I try boots fine, except EA sports games. I get the black screen of death.

My method:
1) boot gs2
2) insert high toc game- devil may cry
3) select a dummy code and turn it on/off
4) hit start without codes
5) hit x
6) says updating code list
7) i now hold eject the disc comes out and i swap with a backup then it closes auto.
8) game boots

like i said only games that hang with a black screen seem to be ea sports games like madden 2006, and mvp baseball 2005.

I know with HDLoader, you have to boot them (EA games) with mode3. I'm not sure how you'd set something up like that with your configuration, but good luck!

no there is no modes. You just got to boot it. i decided to buy swap magic 3.6 which gives you a program loader. ANd hey was only 18 plus shipping
