If your system will still read original ps1 discs you could try this out:

if you have any games installed on the hd from usbextreme you will lose them all because HD loader requires a different format. Your best bet is to get the exploit installed onto a memory card and load HD loader via an ELF launcher.

*you can load HD loader directly from the exploit but it requires a different DB file and I would not suggest it.

When you get the HD loader ELF to load it should ask you if you want to format the drive if I remember correctly.

....um hang on a second. you do have this hd installed via the network adapter and not a usb? If it's usb you need to continue with usbextreme/usbadvance. sorry if I rambling.

yes it's installed inside my fat ps2 via net adapter but since the boot Cd I bought which had like 12 tools from linker4u my fat ps2 can't read it. The PS2 also won't see HDD...

Has anyone ever installed a new lens or maybe a new bios, from what I read doesn't matter what new lens you have it's the bios other's said won't notice much between other ps2 versions but well I did just by having that boot disc boot on slim makes a big difference to me...

But other question yes I can play ps1 disc on my PS2.

ok so it sounds like your disc loads on the slim but not on the fat. Also your fat ps2 will load ps1 games.

    is this correct?

    yes.

I'm sorry to get off topic but if I used the memory exploit with a pen drive how big should the pen drive/flash drive be so AR max could see it...

you don't need to use armax.

I assume that tool disc has some type of LaunchELF or ULaunchELF/ULE.

Create a "TITLE.DB" file with the ID# from your ps1 game. Then add a "BOOT.ELF" and the "TITLE.DB" files to the folder called "BADATA-SYSTEM" in your memory card. Then put that card in the fat ps2. Load the ps1 game you've set as the trigger disc.

your best bet is to just use the memory card. If you want to store saved data for later use you can back them up to a usb drive or in a partition on your HDD.

It's kind of a pain to have game saves save/load directly to the HDD. With HDL/HDA it still saves to the memory card.

Also unless you have an official hdd or a mod chip the browser will not recognize the HDD you have installed so you will have to use another program like ULE to transfer your saves.
