  1. #1 Frustration: Gameshark 5.2 and exploit. possible? Can I stop crying?

I tried for approximately 2-3 months trying to get the exploit to work via sharkport, and I never got it working, so I invested another 30$ getting a gameshark. I thought that it would be easy to do, and at work I played around with my pen drive and it saw everything on it and it even let me copy non-PS2 files onto the mem card such as papers I had written and saved on the pen drive.

So I went to http://www.ps2dev.org/ and picked up their ps2xme, but there were only .cbs, .max, .npo, and .p2m files. All of which were unrecognizable file types. I made a .md file which is supposed to be gameshark compatible and it didnt work. I even tried copying it without erasing the systemconfig and it didnt even overwrite it.

I think my problem is that it just isnt exctracting or whatever. Is it possible to use Gameshark 5 to transfer from pendrive? Nothing else seems to work and I already spent 60 dollars...I dont want to have to buy an AR Evo and I'm about in tears Im so frustrated. Can someone help?

Is there any way to crunch or uncrunch that stuff? Directly put the files on? I dont know. Ps2xme is so easy, yet I am so dumb I cant figure it out.

get a program called ps2savebuilder, and convert it to sharkport type save. just open it then save as.. and choose sharkport

EDIT: actually to be nice here it is:

I''m guessing that gameshark saves are .md? That's what you download on gameshark.com, and I did that exactly (though thanks for the info and link)

I get only one option: "copy to". When I do that, it transfers as a file and it doesnt replace the config file. Then I get the option to "zip/unzip" and when I do it just zips the file up.

Does Gameshark need a filetype other than .md (that I created with savebuilder), .max, .cbs, .npo, or .p2m?

I've tried transferring all of them and none do anything. They just sit there inert.

I know that the codebreaker won't mess with the system file... but AR will... as for the GS I'm not sure...

try deleting the system file from the PS2 Browser then using the GS to copy over from USB pendrive....

according to the readme at ps2dev, there are some systems that need to "uncrunch" the save file. There are other cheat systems that only require that you copy the file onto the memory card.

I copied the file (which it thinks is "unknown file") and it just sits there unextracted. It just the raw .max, .cbs, .npo, .md, or .p2m file. It doesnt overwrite the config. It doesnt recognize any of the filetypes and it acts the same as if I had just copied over a word document that I had had on my pen drive.

I'm just wondering if there is anyone that has had success with a Gameshark 5, and if it is possible to uncrunch it in some way so that it will extract all the info.

most cheat devices will put the save in a single file... saves are just directories with files in them... you might be able to savebuilder to extract all of the files then make the directory yourself... the directory name will be listed in the ROOT/ID box on savebuilder...

give that a try... it might work... I've built saves using svebuilder and I've just copied directories over from the PC... but this in theory should work... just make sure you get the directory right... and all the files are there...
