Dont know if this is right place, if not sorry. I have been using swap magic 3.3 for some time and can get most games working on my ps2 slim. I am new to working with HDD I can get some games working with swap and usb advance but some games will not work, even ones that will work if I burn them. My question is what works best with swap magic-- hdloader, usb extreme, usb advance, ulaunchelf (still not sure how you load from mem card) The way I have it now less than half my games will boot fromm HDD what is best method?. Thanks (my first post) I have been reading forum
Have you tried enabling different modes for the games that wont load?
how can i know if my ps1 game is original?? for the exploit to install??
i have so many ps1 games.
is it really needed to place original ps1 game?
Aside from using Hard Disk any alternatives?
(cause i dont have Hard Disk)![]()
Because it will be a disc that came in a case from a store.Only the real discs will boot the exploit, burned discs wont.
Guess you havent read much on exploiting a PS2
You dont need a HDD to run the exploit, but you will loose on all the options associated with having one installed. All your apps will be limited to using a MC and/or a USB device besides running off a disc. Slim consoles cant run the PS1 Exploit.![]()

so if i have a ps2 slim I'm out of luck?
only 'exploit' that will work on a slim is Free MC Boot
say you used action replay max uncrush the exploit to memory card after that you reboot your ps2 and the trigger disc (original psx game) just boot up instead of triggering the exploit to boot up.
does that mean the the psx original disc i used is unable to be use as a trigger disc?
if so can i use the soft mod technique (go to ps2 broswer insert original psx game close cover wait for it to load up and switch it with a copy psx disc) to boot a trigger disc that isn't original?
Most likely it means either that you prepared the exploit files incorrectly, or that ARMax failed to uncrush the 'gamesave' correctly, like it is apt to do. It is even known for corrupting memory cards completely sometimes...
Don't bother with nonsense methods like that. Just prepare the exploit files properly and it should work with any normal PSX game.if so can i use the soft mod technique (go to ps2 broswer insert original psx game close cover wait for it to load up and switch it with a copy psx disc) to boot a trigger disc that isn't original?
No matter what method you use to get the exploit running, you should only use this old exploit as a 'stepping stone' for installing the vastly superior 'Free McBoot' (aka: FMCB), which has come to replace all previous softmod methods. You'll find ample documentation and discussions on this subject in the 'FreeVAST' subforum of the 'Homebrew/Dev' forum.
Best regards: dlanor
first let me say i am new to this sorry if my question sounds dumd. it there a way to make a exploit mc without have game shark, code breaker or ar max.
