Exploit questions
Hey guys! Long time no see! Hope all is well, I haven't been on here in quite a while! I kinda got into the XBox Scene.
Anyways, I managed to install PS2 Linux 1.0 and the Gaming Partitions on the same official hard drive with the HDD browser working just fine! However, now I get sick of this damn Linux RTE disc, everytime I want to run Linux, the damn thing has to be inserted for like 5 seconds. Anyways, is there anyway we can copy the .ELF file to the memory card and use an exploit or the DMS Explorer (I have a DMS3 for v9) to make it run off the memory card? That would be great if anyone knew how to, I am just getting real tired of not being able to boot directly to Linux without the DVD! Thanks, and nice to see you all again!

Well, the difficulty is in INSTALLING PS2Linux on the gaming partitions, at least with the US and Jap 1.0 Install discs. The PS2Linux's standard installer uses the ext2 Linux filesystem, while the PS2 uses APA for its Gaming Partitions. You have to install PS2 Linux over the ext2, then gzip the entire contents of your PS2 HDD, transfer it over network to another PC. You then download Andrew Church's initfs from achurch.org. Then you use the HDD Utility disc or another similar Gaming Partition installer to setup the APA partitions. Then you transfer the gzip back to the APA drive by booting Linux on the initfs. then you unpack the contents of ur old HDD onto the APA Partition! This is just a small summary of it, you can thank the PS2 Linux Community at www.playstation2-linux.com and read the full instructions there. Anyone know more about the memory card exploits and using it on the RTE disc elf, lemme know!
