I am a noob, trying to get my back-up's to load with ESR. I have installed FMCB 1.8, ulE 4.3. Installed fine but when launch ESR, goes to black screen and stays there. Launch screen says no media detected. Laser never turns on to attempt to read disc in drive. Have tried numerous versions of ESR. All do the same thing. I have PS2 slim v12 with tray sensors bypassed for using SwapMagic. Is it possible that the sensor bypass is not letting ESR check for a disc in drive? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you patched the ISO with the ESR patcher before burning it?
    Slim PS2 SCPH-70004 (v13) w/ FMCB, 3x Sony 8MB, 1x MaxMemory 16MB (Backup card)

I'm not available for FMCB installation service until I can guarantee a processing time of a few days again, sorry.

It never turns on the laser to check for a disc.

Have you patched the games with the ESR patcher? Are you sure the laser never turns on? Of course, there could be something wrong with the sensor block, so make sure you try it with the tray closed.

I guess I must not be explaining myself well enough. First, the laser works fine if I load an original game. It turns on and checks a burned disc etc. As I stated before, I have bypassed the tray sensors so I could use Swapmagic. I could take the top/tray off and will still function as though it were closed. Either I am loading FMCB, ESR incorrectly or the tray sensors being bypassed is making the software think there is no media to load because it never see's the tray open to load media, it can't because I have the sensors bypassed permenantly. My question is, is the bypass the problem or is it something else? I don't see how the ESR patcher could be the issue because the laser never even turns on when I command ESR to lauch CDVD.

I have solved the problem. It was the tray sensors. ESR has to see the tray open then close to check for media. I just undid my sensor bypass and now ESR will check for media and launch fine.

I think it isn“t ESRs fault, but something other causes this problem (because of your sensors like you said --> I come to the conclussion, because of your laser-behaviour-description.).

Btw.: Why do you even launch ESR manually?

I'm having a similar problem as the TC.

My psTwo (fat) doesn't seem to load the DVD I just burned after the second try.
It's kind of odd because it loaded the first 2 times I turned on the psTwo but now it suddenly doesn't want to read the disc anymore. I burned 3 discs out (of the same game) but they all resulted in failure.
ESR just doesn't seem to want to detect it's own patched products.

What Ver. of PS2 do you have? Does your original games load up fine? What type of DVD's are you using? DVD+R,DVD-R,DVD+RW,DVD-RW? And what Brand of Media? There are many factors that can come into play here. DJ
