I went out and bought Final Fantasy XI that comes with a 40GB HD and a utility disk v1.0. I followed the exploit tut by Dv8 but did not know if the HD disk that came with the HD was a HDLoader cd. I used WINHIIP to transfer image over, but when I load the PS2 up with the utility disk in and select the HD the image comes up as Corrupt Data. Can anyone help me or am I going about this totaly wrong? Thanks in advance.

First, the disk that comes with FFXI is in no way related to HDLoader. If you do not plan on using the memory card exploit, you will need to buy an original copy of HDLoader online, as it is not sold in stores. Also, if you plan on putting a lot of games on your HDD, that Sony 40GB is not going to cut it for you. Keep in mind each game takes around 3-4 GB. You have several options at this time....

1)Buy HDLoader (not an ISO copy)
2)Download HDLoader online and burn it to a disk. Then, use something like a swap card with Swap Magic, which you would have to buy, to run the burned copy of HDLoader. Keep in mind this option is good if you plan on swapping other disks, but not good if you only want to use HDLoader as this requires you swap DVDs.
3)Do the Memory Card exploit using a PSX disk, a cheat device, such as Codebreaker or ARMAX, and an USB pen drive.

plus variations on these methos... the AR Max method you no longer need a USB drive... you can use Exploit sender...

I suggest going with the AR MAX.... it is somthing that you will use anyways... the HD Loader disc is not needed if you download a newer version of HD Loader..... Plus what are you wanting to put on the HDD..... games.. or homebrew...

40GB is enough for the homebrew... but you would need much more for games... plus a large HDD is cheaper than the sony drive... 200GB about $100.... www.pricewatch.com
