customizing elf files

i heard from someone that you can change the backroung of hdloader.elf to any picture you want as long as its in bmp format. Just wondering if this is true and also how do edit the elf file to add the new menu.bmp file in it. thanks in advance

i have downloaded the hdledit v4 but when i open it i get an active x runtime error 429 or something like that also when i try to pack or unpack it i click on unpack and it just flashes on the screen then nothing, i need some help with this?????
