OK, I can install operating systems, configure BIOS etc so I'm not a total idiot BUT I can't do these PS2 exploits right, yeah I read tons of stuff on PS2DEVS PS2OWNS sites etc. But sometimes it's PAL specific (need NTSC) and I have attempted and done a few things right but can't get it perfect.

I have a few original PS1 games I want to use the exploit to boot specificly 2 types of programs, HDloader and SwapMagic. Mostly because I have the original discs which work great but if it would be possible to load the same programs using one of my old PS1 games through the MC exploit I would prefer to do that and preserve the original discs (as well as reduce wear on the lens). Anyway if any of you would be so kind with instuctions/suggestions/links on how I can get this accomplished relatively easier I'd really appreciate it, THANKS!!!!!!!!

FYI I DON'T have modchip (obvious since I'm working with SwapMagic) my spec is:

HDadvance disc set* SwapMagic 3.3 Disc set* V7 PS2 console (NTSC)* ActionReplay MAX w/ USB key* 1 reg Sony & 1 32meg Memcard.

you gotta install the files onto the MC directory BADATA-SYSTEM. you can do this either by exploit (which is pointless), ftp, or by installing the files to that directory using a homebrew cd. if you go to swapmagicfix.com under memory card exploit just d/l that. whatever files that are inside the FILES folder will be copied so you will need title.db (this contains the psx signature that YOU will put in) then BOOT.ELF (the elf that you RENAME to BOOT.ELF so it will be run at the start).

Is it possible to download all needed files to an AR MAX pen drive and put them on your memory card that way?

Check out the DV8 tutorial at the top of the SwapMod/NoMod forum. It got me started, and is fairly straightforward. Also, you will have a couple of different options based on what you have already.

Here is a link to a tutorial I wrote from beginning to end about the exploit.
    http://console.iscentral.net/content.php?article.8

It describes how to make an exploit with independence compiler.
