Hi, I need some help with Breaker Pro.

Is there any way to make NTSC PSX games actually run in NTSC mode on PAL PS2s with Breaker Pro? It works on my PAL PSX, but not my PS2.

Edit: And I believe my PS2's version number is 4 if that matters (its model number is SCPH-30004 and according to some guide on the Internet that means it's version 4).

Why don't you try GSM/"GSModeSelector" to enforce another video-mode to your PSX-Games?

With breaker pro you have to swap the discs without it sensing it so you need a slide card or flip top or if wanna go ghetto take the cover off the dvd drive.
But I recommed doing as Tna said instead of buthering your console.

I'm already using a slide card.

I don't know what GSM is, but I'll look into it...

Edit: I found the GSM thread in the Homebrew/Dev forum, but I have no idea how to use it. Here's the explanation in the topic:

    HOW TO USE IT
    - Unzip GS Mode Selector "GSM.ELF" from zip file attached here
    - Take all measures needed to boot it on your console
    - Run it!
    - Follow the GSM OSD instructions in order to choice and set your preferred mode using the joypad buttons
    - Start PS2 Browser (and consequently title, FCMB or ESR according to your console settings) or HDLoader
    - Enjoy!
Can someone please explain the second step? How can I boot this on my (unmodded) PS2?

Install fmcb onto a ps2 memory card ;-)

Just thought I let you Import Player v2.1 is better than Breaker Pro there's meant to a Import Player v2.x that supports codes made via codelist editor codecomp.exe hopefully xiaNaix can shed more light on this as i've never found it anywhere

I'm trying to install FMCB now, using MGS3 (only game on this list that I own), but it won't work.

I swap the discs in the main menu, but when I select Special after inserting the copy, it won't load the next menu, I just get a disc and a question mark in the upper left corner. Of course, I'm using the PAL version, but the guide doesn't specify if it's supposed to be NTSC or PAL, so I assume it doesn't matter..? Am I too slow with the swapping? I'm using a slide card, so it's obviously not as fast as swapping with a flip top. Is that the problem?

Also, I've never heard of Import Player. Guess I'll check that out too.

Possibly as the slide card option is a delayed swap
as it adds in the delay of opening and closing the tray
a flip top or taking the dvd drive cover off is much quicker also check what I stated here about swapping

Ok, I'm pretty sure I've managed to break my PS2 now. I kept trying to swap the MGS3 disc with the copy, and then the PS2 stopped even reading the original MGS3. I tried some other games, but got Disc Read Error on all of them. So then I opened it up to see if I could fix it. This included removing the disc drive cover as seen in the guide you linked to. But when I tried booting up a game with the cover off (just placed the magnet on top like in that guide), the disc wouldn't even start spinning. I hadn't touched anything inside at this point.

So yeah, before I can continue trying to install FMCB or anything else, I need to fix my PS2. Ugh. -_- Anyone know what's wrong? BTW, putting the magnet back in the disc drive cover and putting the cover back in place doesn't solve the problem either...

Edit: I've pretty much given up on this PS2, and I'm probably just gonna buy a used, chipped PS2. The Breaker Pro certainly was a waste of money, though... But I haven't placed any bids yet, so please give me advice if you think you know how to fix my PS2.

It is a big mistake, to use a slide-card for the game-swap-trick.
This swap-trick is time-dependent and the slide-card which is commonly used on FATs in conbination with SwapMagic doesn't work reliable without that kind of disc, or atleast a Homebrew, which can set the tray in the needed "status" (stopped disc).

If you can't get it installed, just use the volnteer-service.

Btw.: With PS2PSXe, you can also play PS1-Games from different devices than CD.
It's in preview-state, but when it is further developed you don't need a laser at all, to play most PS1 and PS2-Games on PS2.

So do you know what happened to my PS2? Did the laser get damaged from all the swapping?
