I have a chipped ps2 (no idea what the mod is) to play backup ps2 games and i have various games backed up on CD-R. I use a swap method with 'DVD region X' to boot the CD-R's but I am having problems booting DVD-R's.

I burned DVD ISO images using nero onto DVD-R and used the swap method but they wont work and i think this swap method can only be used with conjunction of CD-R's not DVD-R's.

any idea how i can boot up the DVD-R backup games?
    thx

If you are swapping to boot dvd backups you have to make sure you swap in an original dvd game first to get your ps2 in dvd mode. Here is what I do. I use cogswaploader to boot backups. I load cogswaploader with my ps1 trigger disk. I then hit eject and load in an original (high toc) dvd game. Next I use swap in my burned dvd backup and load the game. Hope this information is useful.

Yes grab cogswaploader or cdloader from www.swapmagicfix.com. I suggest u use cdloader, because it helps when bootin' some problematic games.

    Then u do:
    1. boot DVD Region X
    2. swap in cdloader (or cogswaploader) cd-r
    3. press x (or whatever u usually do) to boot cd-loader
    4. once cdloader has booted press Eject (tray opens)
    5. insert a real ps2 DVD game (the biggest one u got... like GTA3 or DMC1,2,3)
    6. press eject (tray closes)
    7. Press x (disc spins down and screen says "EA swap")
    8. swap in your backup dvd+-r
    9. press x (and it boots)

Ok, at the "DVD EA"-screen (step 7) press x and wait untill the disc spins down. Then u Swap in your backup (using fliptop, slidekey or other way) without the ps2 knowning - the "media invalid" is a message telling us that your ps2 has discovered that u have inserted a new disc (and it should not have done that) - so the swap didnt go well (most likely).
Once u manage to sneak that backup into the ps2 u press x and it should boot.

Maybe your media is incompatible with the ps2, some media is, so try a different brand. Event tho u can play backup movies on your media it might not work with games. Any type of RW media will not work.

Try making your backup using dvddecrypter (from www.dvddecrypter.com) - it make good Ps2 backups.

As I posted in the off-topic forum, dvd decrypter has been killed by "a certain company" who is assumed to be sony. You'll have to search google for somebody that is still mirroring it. But J_A_C_K is right, you probably burned your disk wrong somehow or used bad media.
