Boot SM v3.6 with v2.0 original?

I have Swap Magic 2 CD version ( DVD disc got broke ). My mate has original v3.6 CD+DVD discs. Would I be able to copy his 3.6 DVD disc and boot it via my SM 2.0 CD? And is SM DVD version actually burnt to a DVD or just a CD?
I have exploit set up on MC and can boot most stuff via cogswap anyway, but if I could boot 3.6 I'd rather use it instead. Thanks.

I have an .ISO of Swap Magic 3.6 i downloaded a while back and I booted that up with my Swap Magic 3.3 so it should work with yours also. I can send it to you if you want.

Thanks for the offer but I got a copy of 3.6 DVD earlier. Mate copied it with DVD Decrypter. Is it just a matter then of burning it back to DVD with DVD Decrypter? I only have SM 2.0 CD disc, and it won't boot DVDs afaik? I'll try an RW anyway and see what happens. Cheers.

Swap Magic will not boot DVD-RW no matter what version. In your 2.0 does it have TOC Refresh funtion? You could also try Booting SMD2.0-->CD Loader-->Eject and put in BIG orginal DVD-->let it see it is a PS2 DVD-->press X--> swap the orginal for the backup

SM may not boot RW discs but cogswaploader def does. I've been using crappy Bulkpaq 2x -RW discs for a couple of test backups and they work fine. I'll try CDLoader then. I was trying to boot straight from PSX game to CDLoader to RW. I'll try letting it see GTA first and see if that works. Thanks.

Sure, did it work? I would create a memory card exploit while your SMD CD still works just in case. If you want you can just grap the SLUS off the disc and rename it to SM2.ELF and you can boot it off your memory card.

I already got the MC exploit running, it's how I'm able to still boot my DVDs.. with cogswap. I tried CDLoader ( from MC and CD ) too but no luck. Cogswap wouldn't boot SM 3.6 DVD copy either. I'll just have to stick with cogswap for my DVDs and SM for my CDs. I managed to find some good quality DVD-Rs which my PS2 likes so I'm gonna use them instead of RW. The laser seems to really struggle with RW discs sometimes and gfx/sound can get messed up during gameplay. Thanks again.
