AR Max Evo Media Max MP / USB Extreme (!)
AR Max Evo Media Max MP / USB Extreme (!) –
08-22-2010,10:30 AM
Yesterday i started trying to install the Free MC Boot Exploit via USB Extreme
but was encountering serious problems. First i tried to just copy the necessary files on the root of the USB pendrive but USB Extreme only recognizes the converted cd/dvd-images that are properly registered within the index file.
Then i tried to make a custom dvd-image that i ripped with the USB Extreme Installer to my static HD. First it won't registered correctly in the UL index file. I guessed this happens because the USB Extreme Programmers was a bit lazy
And i was right ^^ The installer get's in serious trouble when the name of the Main ELF (the ELF referred to in the system.cnf) is longer then that of a licensed game. For licensed games the Main ELF name always looks like. After successfully creating the image i copied all the files to the Pendrive. USB Extreme did recognized the image but halts loading. Next i tried to additionally add the exploit files on the root of the Pendrive and tried again but it halts with a black screen, also. I read some posts from people that having the same problem and found out that the Media Player that comes with the AR Max Evo (Max Media Player) is able to transfer the Free MC Exploit to the Memory Card. They also reported that it is not possible to run the Media Player. AR Max Evo boots fine but when you trigger the Media Player the console halts with a black screen.
I tried it out myself and encountered the same problem. Since i am a programmer i had the suspicion that for some reason AR Max Evo could not resolve the Path Names right, so i gave it a try with Ultra ISO. First i copied all files from the "\res" path to root path of the image and then i replaced the main ELF with the ELF from the Mediaplayer. When launching it via USB Extreme it started fine without any Problems but the USB Pendrive is not recognized within the Media Player. It looks like that not only the CD\DVD Drive is locked when launching application or games over USB Extreme, but both USB Ports, too. I even tried out all kinds of possible workarounds for this, like attaching an USB wich i boot from as well a prepared Pendrive, vice versa, hot-swapping in all combinations, nothing... it just won't work. This is due to USB Extreme is blocking the USB Ports so it can't access the Pendrive. This is maybe the same cause why the Free MC Boot Exploit get stuck on the Black Screen while loading from CD\DVD. My idea to solve this problem for both USB Extreme and USB Advance, is to modificate the Free MC Boot Exploit to run from CD\DVD Media also. Since normally an original swap disc is needed this feature is just not included but it shouldn't be so hard to implement it to make a f****ng lot of people happy, aint ? ^^
