I have a PSTwo slimline and just received my SM3.3 discs.
Back in the states I already have an older PS2 and SM2.0 discs for that, so I'm familiar with the usage, swapping, all that jazz.

However, there seems to be a problem with the Swap Magic 3.3 DVD disc itself, as 98% of the time it does not want to load. I either:
    a) get the "Playstation 2" logo (DVD recognized) then black screen and infinite "whirring"
    b) get the system browser, showing my memory card and a "PS2 DVD" (selecting it does nothing; it goes back to the browser)
    c) very few times , Playstation 2 Logo -> SM screen

The CD version works every time just fine, and when the SM DVD decides to work, it goes off without a hitch (That PSTwo Slim Tool is awesome!)

I read somewhere after searching that apparently some of the SM3.3 DVDs are badly pressed. I mailed [the site i ordered from] about a replacement, but I just want to know if anyone else ever read/heard anything about this.

    Thanks!

Dunno, sounds like you're having issues with your laser or maybe you got a bad press of it.

I got my SM 3.3 discs and they've worked 100% of the time. *shrug*

I get the same problem. The cd version seem's to work fine.

For me it will load if I havn't been using my PSTWO everytime. But if I have been playing for a bit then the problem's arrise. It's like the lasor get's touchy after a 30min's or so of playtime.

Try to load it when your PSTWo is nice and cool and hasnt been used

Hopefully we can get it sorted out.

Yes I have the slim PStwo also.

Glad to know it's not just me. I'm sure the drive is fine though since it loads everything else perfectly I throw at it instantly and oh-so-cutely.
Just the ding dang SM3.3 DVD... can be narrowed down to simply that disc.

And I noticed it worked when I turned off my PSTwo for a while, went out, then came back. Then when i finsihed playing a game and said "i'll try again" it didn't work.
So I thought it was a "cool down " issue too, but then I had it work once, hit the reset button, had it work again, then powered off and took the disc out and put it back in.... didn't work.

I keep thinking the disc itself is like not even, flimsy, poorly pressed, etc...

Whenever I cant get the SM 3.3 DvD to work this is what I do.

I throw in the SM 3.3 CD, and then insert CdLoaderV7.
Once CdLoader is loaded, I insert my SM 3.3 DvD and hit Triangle a couple of times to get the new TOC size.
After it does it says, "PS2 DvD" in the bottom corner.
Then I hit X and It loads up some cheat that I could care less about and then it tells me to insert my backup, and hit X.

Ya it's a pain to swap 3 disk in and out, but that's the process I go through if the SM 3.3 Dvd isnt working for some unknown reason. Im seeing if I can get a replacement from the place I bought it from. Hopefully they cooperate.

Odd, its usually SM CD that dosnt boot.

U can try this (a bit like what Takenover83 does with cd-loader):
    1. Boot SM CD v3.3
    2. Swap in cogswaploader (cd-r from www.swapmagicfix.com)
    3. Press x (cogswaploader boots)
    4. Swap in a real ps2-DVD (like SM DVD)
    5. Press x (Toc is read) <---EDIT: Using O button works better
    6. Swap in backup DVD+-r
    7. Press x (and it boots?)

Or if u can do a real "eject/open tray" (like if u use the ghost switch):
    1. Boot SM CD v3.3
    2. Do a real "Eject/open tray"
    3. Insert a real ps2-dvd (like SM DVD)
    4. Do a real "eject/close tray"
    5. Swap in backup DVD+-r
    6. Press x (and it boots?)

Thanks for that head's up. It worked just fine, which makes it even odder. Obviously the PSTwo is saying "that's a PS2 disc!" when i try booting up with the SM DVD... it just won't be like "now i can load the program!"
Seems like it just goes "now what?" with the DVD.

The CDLoader triple swap is a nice fix so far, worked just fine, thanks for that advice!
The site I ordered from said they are sending out a replacement today. I didn't even have to return the other disc to them, and they asked no questions after my original mail where i mentioned I had "heard there were some bad pressings of SM DVDs".

That gives that site even more bonus points!

I had to order from div in ee o because I'm in Japan and they have the best int'l rates and are very fast about it.
I'm glad your place issued a replacement quickly too... Obviously they know about bad pressings.
I'm hoping my next one isn't a messy pressing too. Glad to hear your new one works though, confirming that it is a disc error, not the precious lil slim PSTwo's cuteness breaking the disc

I received my replacement today and like yours, it's working fine so far.
I guess it was just a bad pressing.
Cool thing is that Div didn't ask me to send the bad disc back, so that saved Japanese postage there.
