any ways to go about playing backups 100% free??

ok i got a PS2 V9.. i can't get it modded not because of the bloody warranty void it's because i don't have anywhere to buy a damn chip from.. i live in a 3rd world country so technology is a little on the down here.. not like that would matter to you guys...
what i wanted to know is if there is any way to get a backup to play in my box without paying for a swap magic original disk.. i figured i can't use a backup of a swap magic disk just as i can't use a backup of any game...
basically i want to know if i can play backups without buying anything.. cause as i said i'm in a 3rd world country.. i could spare the money.. but i have no way of sending it outside my country...
i heard something about making your own slide card and stuff ... i guess i could do that but.. don't i need something like an original disk or anything...
do help me out please..

ohh yea.. was also wondering if i can do any kind of enhancements to the console.. like getting it to play mp3 files and any other stuff like without having to get a chip or anything..

install a independent exploit on your memorycard to boot something called cog swap. I have never done this, but it chould work.

But to do this i think u need to use somebody else's moded ps2 to be able to
install the independent exploit to your memcard.

use the search function on this forum. almost every question has been asked before. otherwise people will get anoyed because u wasting space and bandwith on the forum.

butnone of my friends have moded a ps2 machine.. actualy none of my freinds have a ps2.. so i guess there's no way of doing this...
am i right about the slide card thing.. do i need an original disk?
also about the mp3 playing bit.. anyway around that.. ?

Uh oh! not good

Most v9 and v10 Ps2's dosnt run the mc exploit. U might recognice it if it has a ir-thingy between the on/off and reset switches ... it will most likely not work, sorry. Better go get the Swap Magic discs instead or a chip. Dont forget if u have an old Action Replay or Gameshark v2 u might be able to u it as swapdisc (only the old ones work.. not the new Max/Evo ones)

Yes, u dont have to buy a swapkey/slidecard u can make your own of hard plastic like a credit card or phone cover. This is also called the "knife trick" because people used to use a knife to do the swap instead of the slide thingy. So u can use a knife instead if u want to (its a bit safer using plastic tho')

If u get a way (swapmagic or chip) to boot backups, u can do this to play all your mp3, divx, xvid:

ok so i guess there's no way of 'making your own swap disk'.. i mean not buying swap magic.. and burning an iso/cue file of the disk.. is there?

Both my v10s do the MC exploit, isn't it v11s and slims that it doesn't work with?

i was thinking to go the swapping way.. but how to make your own swap disk.. can i just burn the cue/bin stuff onto cd/dvd ?

nope if that was possible you didnt have to install any mod/exloit.

Because your machine cant read any burned discs untill you mod/exloit it.
The only burned discs it can read is dvd movies.

If you search the net or mabye the sell/trade part of the forum. Ill guess you will find a realy cheap chip.
