If so, how?
I'll preface this w/ "I'm new to all this"... Like that wasn't obvious.
That said, I have made my CD that I'll use to do the MC exploit. All I need to do now is get the CD to boot IIRC. I don't have Swap Magic, a mod chip or anything other than a memory card, Action Replay and the CD I made w/ the exploit on it.
Now, what are my options as far as getting the files on the memory card?
I've seen numerous references to using Action Replay to boot the CD and load the files on the MC that way, but have been unable to find any guides on it.
pretty easy if you just do a search but since im in a good mood . assuming you made the exploit cd right you can boot it by "swapping". this means you need to get the action replay cd out and swap it with your exploit cd w/o using the eject button on ps2. slide card or taking off dvd top will do the trick. you might also need to boot to cdloader before booting exploit but just try it w/o cdloader first.
I'm sure it's as easy as you make it sound, but I need something a little more detailed...
Is there 1, 2, 3 step by step process for this? During the AR process, at which point do I make the swap?
How can you swap the disc without using any of those methods? I've searched and I come across so many different methods, but I'm in the same boat as the original poster. I have the exploit disc created, I have GameShark and Codebreaker and the game that i use to make the exploit disc.
Well, I went out and got AR Max (non-evo) and have several USB thumb drives. I read all the instructions to the letter, and AR Max sees nothing on the thumb/pen drive no matter what I do. I recall other having this problem as well.
What's the solution?
Finally did it...
If anyone is interested, I used AR Max, a SanDisk Cruzer 256. Went into Media Player and booted HDLoaderLite.elf. It'll do for now, but I'd rather just use a memory card. Sucks how I have to repeat the process to play another game, but hey. I ain't complainin'.
cant you just save the exploit as a max save transfer it with the usb thumb drive and start the exploit with the proper psx cd?
I'd love to, but no matter what, memory manager sees no files on the thumb drive, so there's nothing to uncrush.
Other people have had the same problem I have no idea what the solution is.
you converted the exploit with the save tools? im not talking about the cd that comes with ar max. there are homebrew apps. for this.(PS2 SAVEBUILDER) i dont mean to repeat myself but i am not sure were on the same page.
I'll make this simple...
The *only* way I can run a .elf or anything for that matter, is via AR Media Player. I have an unmodded PS2.
So each time I want to use HD Loader or anything homebrew, I have to go through the process of booting AR Max, and then Media Player after that. Skipping the movie makes the software ignore any files on the thumb, so I have to sit through that as well.
As it is, I still have no way of getting the files on the memory card. If there's an .elf that allows me to do that (MC Loader? I have it and used it but can't figure it out.) AR Max sees no files on the thumb drive no matter what I do.
