500 transfer failed

Hey, I'm trying to get FTP access to my PS2, but I can't. ExecFTPs 0.69 loads just fine, it would appear, but in any FTP client I've tried (FlashFXP, ncftp, freebsd FTP, windows ftp, ...) I can't so much as list a directory. If I try with "dir" or "ls", I'll occasionally get "500 transfer failed" or "200 PORT command successful 200 PORT command successful" twice in a row, and no directory list.

I'm at my whit's end.. I've gone back to the exploit file I used when I originally exploited the PS2, I've formatted the hard drive, replaced the hard drive, reexploited time and time again, and yet I can still no longer FTP. Everything worked fine when I initially did the exploit -- I could use the FTP server with no problem. I really can't imagine it being a corrupt FTP serve or anything..

does anyone know what's up? about the only thing I haven't tried is formatting my mem card, though I _have_ tried a memcard I made at the same time as when I originally made the exploit.. it worked then, it doesn't now.

There are no firewalls, I have a linksys WRT54g router, both plugged into the switch, so that shouldn't do anything... I have no idea. Even the output passed through PS2Link looks ok, and all other programs work just fine.
