Refurbished CECH-A01 Consoles

I was just browsing around Ebay when I found this listing:

Seems like this guy has a bunch of them too. Though they are refurbished, they are CECH-A01 (full PS2 BC) and are either below 3.56 or downgradable. $300 may seem pricey, but these early systems are quite hard to find these days.

Does Gamestop have regular supplies of CECHA01s? I've never really looked.

i paid 700,- € for my checha00 at nov 2006 .

and for my newest treasure a chacha12 i paid 200,- € + 50,- € for downgrade last week.

it was very pricey as these consoles are very very rare in germany.

Curious about buying one of these, as my CFW PS3 just got the dreaded YROD. The base firmware is listed as 4.31. Being that they are refurbished, however, I wonder if they are still downgradable. Has anyone purchased one of these or have you heard of a non-downgradable CECH-A01?
