No settings, buttons or controls. Works automatically - PS3 will still control fan if more cooling is needed.

why not just open your ps3, pop the IHS off the RSX, and replace the thermal paste? then problem solved for another 2 - 3 years...

dont damage the rsx chip, you need a metal shim to put under a flat head screw driver while gently persuading the IHS off the RSX. then just take a razor and clean the epoxy from the 4 chips, just get as much off as you can. then just replace with thermal paste. then carefully reassemble the ps3.

took me about 15 mins to do this, and now my ps3 fan wont budge from level 1 even under the most graphical games.

Replacing thermal paste is good for a few degrees. this will not solve the main issue, that Sony would rather have systems that run quiet than last many years. The fan will not ramp up until a processor reaches 80C and heat stress starts to cause damage well before 70C. I don't want this thread turning into a debate. This product is for people who want more airflow and cooling than stock PS3 provides. Thanks.

considering the slims are very quit almost to quit. yeah theremal yay yay. i have done many fixs with thermal paste. thats a fix this would be preventive maintainance.

would like to say thanx noticed a difference as soon as i loaded mass effect 3 and a couple of other games.
overall its cooler than it was..

Glad it helped.

I now set combined shipping, adds 5 cents for each additional chip ordered.

You can also use 2 chips in parallel if massive airflow is needed, or incorporate your own switch.

These chips should also boost any PWM fan where you can get a 5V power source, such as Xbox 360 Slims or PC's... I've yet to test this.
