Initial testing with Team Xtender's "HD Connect" has revealed full compatability with all tested homebrew applications, no modifications required. Even more interesting, testing with HDLoader has revealed that what were previously believed to be incompatability issues with hardware or the PS2SDK are actually caused by an oversight in the design of HDLoader itself! Rest assured that a patch will be released here soon that allows the use of HDLoader on PsTwo consoles with Team Xtender's IDE HD Connect kit!

    UPDATE:
Team Xtender Has announced that they are now taking pre-orders for the HD-Connect Kit! View this news post on their site for more info.

I installed my hd connect earlier this week and i must say it is NOT for noobs. The soldering points are very small and people with little soldering experience will easily short points together then ruin the components trying to desolder their mistakes. Mine worked and i used a crystal chip. I successfully loaded a game to the hd and it played but when i reseted the system and booted back into hdloader, hdloader thought the harddrive was unformatted. I also used a ATX power supply to power the hd. Now all we need is a custom case to fit the hd in and some kind of power adapter. Bottom line though it works.

So used Team Xtender's "HD Connect with different chips also formated the HD every time (except DMS4 Pro + toxic)

But after seeing xiaNaix post details as below :
"Rest assured that a patch will be released here soon that allows the use of HDLoader on PsTwo consoles with Team Xtender's IDE HD Connect kit! "

    I can't wait ~ it's so great !!

Xtender told me on IRC he believed it to be a problem with HDLoader and a patch would come, but he didn't get too into details. Glad to hear its going well so far, no unexpected issues.

I installed the beta of HD-connect with a DMS4 Pro flashed with Toxic OS 0.3 and it worked amazingly great. I was even able to use a 40 pin IDE cable that was 18 inches long and it still worked great, without the formatting bug.

I very much agree with Netmech, this is not for the average. Bridges are very easy to make.

I too hope the patch that will correct this with HDL will allow the use of any chip. Here are a few pic's

How did your kits come? Fedex, USPS, UPS, DHL? I have a slip from all of them on my door (from the past 2 days) Where should I head first?

no doubt this is no n00bie kit. but it does make an excellent and professional install for pro modders. something worth stocking besides modchips for installers.
