if you read the post about the root hardware secrecy of the cbe then software by no means can expose the root key as it is refered too (ala master key) the root key would need hardware decryption to gain or expose it.

the root key as stated is not encrypted as if it were it would also require a key to decrypt it and so forth and eventually would need a key that is not encrypted to decrypt the rest like a dominos effect.

but with the right amount of money and hardware it is possible to get access to the root key of the cbe if you have the knowledge and know how. and really you sorta would need to be really frikkin good with a cbe maybe better then sony.

One of the reasons almost every single original PSJailbreak, then later their PSDowngrade, and now the x3max threads end up getting closed down after a day, or worse delete because it becomes worse then flames, and out right shitstorm!

The funny thing is x3jailbreak and later called x3max appeared 48 hours after the original PSJailbreak, not like all the other cloners that only appeared after PSGroove was released a few weeks later, so my point is maybe they do have a so-called "Team of Developers" unlike the others that are truely just cloners of open-source free-flowing information.

But time will tell if they can release something more then right now "100% hot air". -- As we old-school'ers call it VapourWare!
The only reason x3jailbreak had their clone done before psgroove was because they had the luck to get a sample from psjailbreak before we did. Unlike is (and like all the other cloners back then) they didn't understand the exploit at all, they simply reproduced the usb traffic from the sample as-is. If you check it's the very same without any changes, even the timing is identical. We on the other hand understood the exploit, documented it and open sourced it, we just didn't reproduce some usb traffic, if we did that we'd have done nothing more than clone the psjb dongle and to be honest given the right hardware and some avr/pic coding, reproducing the usb traffic on its own is easy. Understanding it and documenting it on the other hand is where the real work happens.

So I guess you didn't read the title? ".... and MASTERKEY" So most of these posts ARE discussing that possibility

yes i have read the OP and every single last post(well i didn't read it but i have a text to speach program that automatically read's anything i copy)
and most post are about the if the 3.5 JB Is real like i said 98% some post are about the possibilities of the master key but most are kids saying their fake and the other kid saying no their real
we even got some guys talking about "the good old days" so yeah this tread has been off topic for quite some while
and while some people id say about 5 people are talking about the master key there are quite a few
but the one we need to encrypt the files so that we can make it work on retail and on any update is not found in the PS3 so we can debate over if they have one or not but at the end of the day we dont know shit so best is to wait a while and stop calling them lairs scammers and other stuff and for the fan boys to stop making a strom in a bottle because someone says something that they dont agree with
and so untill we have more information we should just ignore this or make a thread to debate the truth in the 3.5 JB not just spamm every tread about the x3 team about if the JB is real or not

Well, actually if you would scrape off the others layers of the die of CELL-BE you could just read/measure them. A technique vastly used in the days of video signal encryption with sattelite receivers. I never heard of anyone brave enough to chemically expose even the old 90nm, let alone the current 40/45nm die's. But even if you would do that, you would only have YOUR specific hardware key, unique compared to every other console in the world and useless for de-/encryption of another PS3's NAND, HDD etc.

There can't be a per cpu root cert key, that wouldn't make sense. The hardware root key is just a encryption key that is largely irrelevant. Having it the same or different on all ps3's doesn't really improve the security. I didn't spot where it said it was a per cpu key and it could hurt them if they did.

However once you have enough keys to extract all the keys from updates, they won't be able to prevent you knowing every new key they try to push out. You still can't sign anything, but you'd be able to decrypt games built with new SDK's.

Irrelevant to you or not, it is real/used and documented.

Why do you think that knowledging HMAC of PUP is doing you any good for decrypting game EBOOT.BIN's and revocation lists? People are unpacking PUP's for years now and I have yet to hear of the first decryption key to be found.

Because their 'top team of hardware engineers' was too busy making video's too screw more customers. They like screwing and repackaging their old dongle with old 2GB microSD-nonHC more than customerfriendly ejectable 32GB class10 SDHC / 32GB class4 microSDHC (so don't expect support for 64GB class10 SDXC)...

It's just a designers choice, maybe to save 5cents on the SD slot, while adding 2 cents for the screws...

There is no new dongle, only the old one, batched with an old 2GB microSD-nonHC

The reason I label the 2GB microSD-nonHC as 'old' is because I haven't needed any of those since way back from the GBA/SP days and on the PSX/PSone, PS2/PStwo...
