It's not working for me i've uploaded the mkb_ro.inf from all the blu ray movies I have & none worked, all I got is "This video cannot be played" msg. I uploaded the mkb_ro.inf file via arodd.com, copy & pasted the code in a hex editor in DRL1 & DRL2, then replace the files with ones in dev_flash 3. Am I doing this correctly? Please help...........

Did you ever use Netflix?

Did you pad out the file with zeroes to the appropriate size?

No it won't work. The logic board is paired to the PS3 it was shipped with.
Currently only $ony can re-marry boards to motherboards.

EDIT: If your laser dies, then you can swap drives, but must keep your original logic board.
Thats the reason you can "swap" drives. You only change the mechanical part.

i know what your saying mark,but i read on another site a while back that it is possible to swap logic boards (rare) but they have to be the same revision.a1,bmd-001 and 1-871-575-24,if you have two boards the same as this there is a good chance if can work.not to sure if i read garyopa's post correctly but thats what i got out of it.

heres the file m8,but am not holding out much hope lol.i know its the one that updated my ps3 as the missus got it out a few months ago and i have not watched many blu rays since then,well ones with a higher value.this one is mkb v18.i use zip zilla to ftp files over to my flash 3 folder.have deleted the ocrl files and tried it without deleting them,but no joy lol.in the file you will find the original mkb file i got of the disc and the drl file from arodd.com.got it from there as i can not use hex editors lol.

Your file checks out. It is built correctly.

Other things to rule out.

Does it or any of your other discs have a 2nd Blu-Ray Disc? I only ask because all of the Special Edition BDVDs I have the MKBs on disc 1 and 2 don't match. If it has a 2nd disc, and your wife accidentally played that one first... then you would need that one. If not, then this is definitely NOT the movie you are looking for.

Did you say you didn't ever use Netflix?

List all the BDVDs you have played here. Maybe I can help.

Hey guys, quick question. I have a the first gen 60bg fat ps3s. Currently I'm on 3.5 but I want to downgrade. If I do, i will lose BR playback. If I restore it using Arodd's method, will this permanently fix my problem or will my BR break again when I insert a disc with a higher MKB than what my PS3 has last seen? This was the only thing that was not clear to me about this "Hacky" method. Thanks.
