I expect it will require more than just installing debug FW to change a retail into a debug.

The debug lv2 has checks enforced to make sure it won't run on retail consoles. Flash a debug coreos and you will get 4 loud bips upon startup followed by a system panic.

Also copy/pasting a wiki doesn't make you suddenly reverse the challenge/response xD

Note the 'Work in Progress' title on the subject.

What's the right way to go about this? Is miniv1 missing any important steps/info? Is there a way around the lv2 checks? Is there another/better way to approach this?

This is 2 steps ahead but once we have a working service Jig it looks like we'll be able to marry the keys from a replacement dvd board or even better modify the FW to not require a BD-ROM at all!

Yeh, seems like it'll give us great access to fix BR drive issues. I don't see why some devs are reluctant to release details of this, when they say they know how it works considering the great implications of being able to have access to this service mode, both downgrading and the BR drive key aswell as other things we've yet to discover.

I understand why one of them is pissed his code is being used to go back on PSN (JB + PSN = wrong, imo) but this is giving us a better grasp of our machines and to be able to repair them further ourselves (e.g. it's a major problem having a damaged controller board right now), not to use patches and cheats on PSN servers.

Can't wait for the next breakthrough on this, I think the encrypted .FLA file is of major importance if someone finds a way to decrypt it if this method doesn't come to anything. Would we not need the serial number that it's compiled for in order to help decrypt it though..?

I don't want to be spetic but saying the solution will be decrypt encryptions keys?

Its like cracking passwords or worst. Could take years in brute force lol.

The best solution will be always go backdoor instead trying to force the front door.
