The SIXAXIS controller can be used on a Windows PC. It works as USB HID device that needs special initialization under Windows.
The instruction to make it work properly is as follows:
1. Download and install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe).
2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe
3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe once.
5. Push the PS button on the SIXAXIS once if it seems to be sleeping.
sweet. I don't have a PS3 yet but i really want a sixaxis controller now.
I thought the PS3 six axis was bluetooth only? I guess from what you're saying is that the cord used for charging also sends the controllers signals to the PS3?
When someone finds out how to make the six axis work as a bluetooth controller for Windows, Linux, and Mac, then the six axis will be the all in one wireless controller solution!
Except that the X360 controller is more ergonomic, for my hands anyway ;P

Hmm, this didn't work for me. But, I don't know what this step means:

It's an executable and it doesn't seem to unpack anything when it runs. It does seem to detect the PS3 controller but I get this printout:

And then nothing happens, at least, I can't use the controller in Windows Control Panel "Game Controllers" and the lights on the PS3 controller keep flashing.
does the PS button do anything when you press it?
it's bluetooth?? wow i want one for my PDA! as soon as there're PDA drivers out for it on windows mobile 2005, i'll buy one.
ps button turns console on/off (or sleep mode). but in this case, would probably just turn the controller on/off.
Is any data from the tilt sensors parsed by the driver?
